RBI Officer Grade-B 2026 : Eligibility Criteria

  • Grade B (DR) – General Cadre : Candidates must have either a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks (relaxation up to 50% marks for SC/ST/PH candidates), OR a Master’s Degree in any subject with at least 55% marks (for SC/ST/PH candidates, only pass marks are required). The degree must be from a recognized university or institution.
  • Grade B (DR) – DEPR Cadre : Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Economics, OR a Master’s Degree in Finance / PGDM / MBA from a recognized university or institution. This cadre focuses on the Department of Economic and Policy Research.
  • Grade B (DR) – DSIM Cadre : Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Statistics or Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks in all semesters/years. For SC/ST candidates, the minimum required marks are 50%. This cadre is associated with the Department of Statistics and Information Management.
  • Age Relaxation : RBI provides age relaxation for reserved category candidates as per government norms. SC/ST candidates typically receive 5 years of relaxation, OBC candidates receive 3 years, and PWD candidates may receive additional relaxation as applicable.
  • Nationality : Candidates must be citizens of India.

Mode Of Selection

  • Phase-I – Online Examination (CBT) : The first stage is a Computer Based Test (CBT) conducted separately for General, DEPR, and DSIM cadres. This exam tests candidates on reasoning, quantitative aptitude, general awareness, and domain-specific knowledge. The Phase-I exam for DR General is scheduled on 13 June 2026, and for DEPR/DSIM on 14 June 2026.
  • Phase-II – Online Examination (CBT) : Candidates who qualify Phase-I are called for Phase-II examination. This is a more advanced test focusing on economic and social issues, finance, management, and specialized subjects related to the respective cadre. Phase-II for DR General is on 25 July 2026 and for DEPR/DSIM on 26 July 2026.
  • Language Proficiency Test (LPT) : Candidates who qualify both Phase-I and Phase-II are required to appear for a Language Proficiency Test. This test evaluates the candidate’s proficiency in the local language of the allotted region. It is typically a qualifying test and does not carry marks for merit.
  • Final Merit List : The final selection is based on the combined performance in Phase-I, Phase-II, and the Language Proficiency Test. A merit list is prepared, and candidates are offered appointment based on their rank, preference, and vacancy availability.

  • Step 4 : The answer key will be displayed on the screen along with the question paper and the correct responses for each set (if applicable).
