Age Limit & Eligibility Criteria (As On 01 April 2026)

• Minimum Age: 21 Years
• Maximum Age: 30 Years
• Age Relaxation: SBI provides age relaxation for various categories as per Government of India rules. This typically includes:
  • SC/ST: 5 Years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 Years
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PWBD): 10-15 Years (depending on category)
  • Ex-Servicemen: As per government rules

  Candidates are advised to refer to the official notification for precise details on age relaxation applicable to their category.

• Educational Qualification (Eligibility Criteria):
• Candidates must have passed a Bachelor’s Degree in any stream from a recognized university or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.
• Those who are in the final year/semester of their graduation may also apply provisionally. However, they must produce proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before a specified date (usually mentioned in the detailed notification, typically before the interview stage).
• There is no specific minimum percentage of marks prescribed for General/OBC/EWS categories in graduation, but candidates should ensure they meet the university’s passing criteria.

Selection Process for SBI PO 2026

The selection process for SBI Probationary Officer (PO) involves a rigorous three-phase examination, followed by a final merit list.

• Phase I: Preliminary Examination
  • This is an online objective test of 100 marks, conducted for a duration of 1 hour.
  • It consists of 3 sections: English Language (30 Questions), Quantitative Aptitude (35 Questions), and Reasoning Ability (35 Questions).
  • Candidates must qualify in each of the three tests by securing minimum cut-off marks to be decided by the Bank. Adequate number of candidates in each category, as decided by the Bank, will be shortlisted for the Main Examination.
  • Negative Marking: There is a penalty for wrong answers marked in the objective tests. 1/4th of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.
• Phase II: Main Examination
  • The Main Examination is an online test consisting of Objective Tests (200 marks, 3 hours) and a Descriptive Test (50 marks, 30 minutes).
  • Objective Test Sections:
    • Reasoning & Computer Aptitude (45 Questions, 60 Marks)
    • Data Analysis & Interpretation (35 Questions, 60 Marks)
    • General Economy/Banking Awareness (40 Questions, 40 Marks)
    • English Language (35 Questions, 40 Marks)
  1. Descriptive Test:
     • This test is for 50 marks and requires candidates to write an Essay and a Letter. It evaluates English Language proficiency.
  2. Negative Marking: Similar to Prelims, 1/4th of the marks assigned to an objective question will be deducted for wrong answers.
  3. Candidates will be shortlisted for Phase III based on their aggregate marks in the Main Examination (Objective + Descriptive).
• Phase III: Group Exercise & Interview
  • Candidates who qualify in the Main Examination will be called for a Group Exercise (20 Marks) and an Interview (30 Marks).
  • The Group Exercise assesses leadership, communication, problem-solving, and team-playing skills.
  • The Interview evaluates personality, general awareness, communication skills, and suitability for the banking sector.
1. Final Selection: The final merit list is prepared on the basis of the aggregate marks scored in the Main Examination (Phase II) and Phase III (Group Exercise & Interview). Marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase I) will not be added for the final merit list.

How to Apply for SBI Probationary Officer PO Online Form 2026

• Interested candidates who wish to apply for the SBI PO position can submit their application online before 08 July 2026.
• Step 1: Registration: Visit the official SBI careers page or click on the “Apply Online” link provided in the Important Links section below. Register by providing basic details like name, contact number, and email ID. A provisional registration number and password will be generated.
• Step 2: Fill Application Form: Log in with the generated credentials and accurately fill out the detailed application form with personal, educational, and communication details.
• Step 3: Upload Documents: Upload scanned images of your passport-size photograph, signature, left thumb impression, and a hand-written declaration as per the specifications mentioned in the official notification. Ensure all images are clear and correctly sized.
• Step 4: Preview and Verify: Carefully review all the entered information before final submission. Make any necessary corrections at this stage.
• Step 5: Pay Application Fee: Proceed to pay the application fee online using Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking, IMPS, or Mobile Wallet. Ensure the transaction is successful.
• Step 6: Final Submission & Print: After successful payment, submit the application. Take a printout of the e-receipt and the submitted application form for your records.
