Note: Candidates must meet all physical standards and qualify in the efficiency tests. These stages are strictly qualifying in nature.

• Stage 1: Preliminary Written Examination (PT)
  • This is the initial screening test. It consists of objective-type questions primarily covering General Knowledge and Current Affairs.
  • The exam is usually for 200 marks with 100 questions, and a duration of 2 hours. There is typically negative marking for incorrect answers.
  • Candidates must qualify in the PT to be eligible for the Mains Examination. The number of candidates selected for Mains is usually 20 times the total vacancies.
• Stage 2: Mains Written Examination (MT)
  • Candidates who qualify in PT proceed to the Mains Exam, which consists of two papers:
  • Paper I: General Hindi (usually 100 marks, 2 hours, qualifying with minimum 30% marks). Its marks are not counted for the final merit list.
  • Paper II: General Studies (200 marks, 100 questions, 2 hours). This paper covers a broad range of subjects including General Science, Civics, Indian History, Indian Geography, Mathematics, and Mental Ability.
  • Marks obtained in Paper II of the Mains Examination are crucial for the final merit list. Negative marking is applicable.
1. Stage 3: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST)
   • Candidates clearing the Mains Exam are called for PET and PST.
   • PST involves measurements of Height and Chest (for males).
   • PET includes events like Running, High Jump, Long Jump, and Shot Put (Gola Fek).
   • These tests are mandatory and qualifying in nature. Failure to meet any standard or complete any event will lead to disqualification.
2. Stage 4: Document Verification (DV)
   • Shortlisted candidates from PET/PST undergo document verification.
   • Candidates must produce all original certificates and mark sheets, along with self-attested copies, for verification.
   • Required documents typically include: 10th & 12th Marksheets and Certificates, Graduation Degree and Marksheets, Caste Certificate (if applicable), Domicile Certificate (if applicable), Valid Photo ID (Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Passport), Passport size photographs, and other relevant documents mentioned in the official notification.
3. Stage 5: Medical Examination
   • A medical board will conduct a thorough medical examination to assess the candidate’s general health, eyesight, hearing, and physical fitness as per prescribed standards.
4. Final Merit List
   • The final merit list is prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained in Paper II of the Mains Written Examination. Successful candidates from all stages will be considered for appointment.

    • Syllabus : Hindi Grammar, Vocabulary, Comprehension, Fill in the Blanks, Error Detection, etc.
  1. Paper II : General Studies, General Science, Civics, Indian History, Indian Geography, Mathematics & Mental Ability
     • No. of Questions : 100
     • Maximum Marks : 200
     • Duration : 2 Hours
     • Final Merit : Marks from this paper determine the final merit list.
     • Syllabus :
       • General Studies : Current National & International Events, Indian Polity & Governance, Economic & Social Development, Environment, Ecology, Biodiversity, Climate Change.
       • General Science : Physics, Chemistry, Biology (up to 10th/12th standard).
       • History : Ancient, Medieval, and Modern Indian History, Bihar specific history.
       • Geography : Indian Geography, Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World, Bihar specific geography.
       • Civics (Polity) : Indian Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues.
       • Mathematics : Number System, Simplification, Percentage, Profit & Loss, Ratio & Proportion, Time & Work, Speed & Distance, Average, Mensuration.
       • Mental Ability / Reasoning : Analogies, Similarities & Differences, Space Visualization, Problem Solving, Analysis, Judgment, Decision Making, Visual Memory, Discrimination, Observation, Relationship Concepts, Arithmetical Reasoning, Verbal & Figure Classification, Arithmetical Number Series.
• Negative Marking : There is usually a provision for negative marking in both Preliminary and Mains examinations (e.g., 0.2 marks deducted for each wrong answer). Candidates are advised to check the official notification for precise details on negative marking.
