Selection Process
Stage 1: Academic Qualifications (88 Marks) – Candidates will be shortlisted based on their academic records and achievements. Marks will be awarded for educational qualifications such as Master’s Degree, NET/SET/SLET, Ph.D., Post-Doctoral research, and publications as per the BSUSC guidelines.
Stage 2: Interview-cum-Teaching Skill Demonstration (12 Marks) – Shortlisted candidates will undergo an interview to assess their subject knowledge, communication skills, and teaching aptitude. A teaching skill demonstration may also be part of this stage to evaluate pedagogical abilities and suitability for the Assistant Professor role.
Stage 3: Merit List – A final merit list will be prepared based on the cumulative scores obtained from academic qualifications and the interview-cum-teaching skill demonstration. This list will rank candidates in order of merit.
Stage 4: University Allotment – Candidates on the merit list will be allotted to various universities/colleges in Bihar based on their preference and overall merit, ensuring a transparent and fair distribution.
Stage 5: Document Verification (DV) – Before final appointment, all selected candidates must undergo a thorough document verification process. BSUSC Bihar Assistant Professor : Detailed Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must hold a Master’s Degree (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in the relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
A minimum of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) at the Master’s level is mandatory.
For candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Backward Classes (BC), Extremely Backward Classes (EBC), and Physically Handicapped (PH) categories, a relaxation of 5% in marks will be provided, requiring a minimum of 50% marks at the Master’s level.
Candidates must have qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or CSIR.
Alternatively, candidates who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016, and their subsequent amendments, shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET.
Candidates holding a Ph.D. degree obtained from a foreign university/institution with a ranking among the top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any of the following: (i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings, (ii) the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings or (iii) the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, are also exempted from NET/SLET/SET.
