Age Limit & Eligibility Criteria

  • Age Limit: As per Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) Rules. Detailed information regarding minimum and maximum age limits, along with category-wise age relaxations, will be provided in the official JHTET 2026 notification. Candidates are strictly advised to refer to the comprehensive official document for precise age criteria.
  • Total Posts: Notified Soon. The number of vacancies will be released along with the detailed notification or at a later stage by the Jharkhand Academic Council.

Selection Process

  • Written Examination: The primary stage of selection is the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JHTET) written examination. This test comprises two papers: Paper I for candidates aspiring to teach Classes 1-5 (Primary Level) and Paper II for those aiming to teach Classes 6-8 (Junior Level). The examination assesses candidates’ knowledge across various subjects, pedagogical abilities, and general aptitude.
  • Merit List: Based on the performance and scores obtained in the JHTET written examination, a merit list will be prepared. Candidates who achieve the minimum qualifying marks and rank within the specified cut-off will be provisionally shortlisted.
  • Document Verification (DV): Provisionally shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for document verification. At this stage, candidates must present all original educational certificates, mark sheets, age proof, caste certificate (if applicable), disability certificate (if applicable), and any other relevant documents as specified in the official notification. Discrepancies or failure to produce original documents may lead to disqualification.
  • Final Selection: The final selection of candidates will be based on their performance in the written examination and successful completion of the document verification process, ensuring that all eligibility criteria are met.

Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JHTET) : Eligibility Criteria
  • Primary Level (Class 1-5 Teacher Eligibility):
    • Candidates must have 10+2 Intermediate / Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and must have passed or be appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (B.T.C. / D.El.Ed.).
    • OR 10+2 with at least 45% marks with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (as per NCTE 2002 norms).
    • OR 10+2 with at least 50% marks and be appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).
    • OR 10+2 with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
    • OR a Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (B.T.C. / D.El.Ed.).
    • Junior Level (Class 6-8 Teacher Eligibility):
      • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) and must have passed or be appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (B.T.C. / D.El.Ed.).
      • OR a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of B.Ed. / L.T. / Shiksha Shastri (Regular).
      • OR a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 45% marks and B.Ed. (as per NCTE norms).
      • OR 10+2 Intermediate / Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and are appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).
      • OR 10+2 Intermediate / Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and are appearing in the final year of a 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed program.
      • OR a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks and B.Ed. (Special Education).
      • OR those having a Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks along with a 3-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. course.
