Age Limit & Eligibility Criteria

  • Age Limit: Candidates must be born not earlier than 01 January 2008 and not later than 01 January 2011 (both dates inclusive).
  • Age Relaxation Extra will be applicable as per Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) rules for Examination 2026.
  • Educational Qualification:
  • For Army Wing of National Defence Academy: Candidates must have passed or be appearing in the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University. Candidates from any stream (Arts, Science, Commerce) are eligible.
  • For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy: Candidates must have passed or be appearing in the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects from a recognized Board or University.

Selection Process

  • Written Test: The first stage of selection is a written examination conducted by UPSC. This examination consists of two papers: Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). Successful candidates in the written test will proceed to the next stage.
  • SSB Interview: Candidates who qualify the written examination will be invited for the Services Selection Board (SSB) Interview. This is a comprehensive 5-day evaluation process designed to assess a candidate’s officer-like qualities, leadership potential, intelligence, and personality through various psychological tests, group tasks, and personal interviews.
  • Medical Examination: Candidates recommended by the SSB will undergo a stringent medical examination by a board of service medical officers to ensure they meet the prescribed physical and medical standards for entry into the Armed Forces.
  • Final Merit List: A final merit list will be prepared based on the cumulative marks obtained in the Written Examination and the SSB Interview, subject to a candidate being declared medically fit.

  • Army Wing: 208 Posts
    • Eligibility: Candidates must have passed or be appearing in the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University. Any academic stream is acceptable.
    • Navy Wing: 42 Posts
      • Eligibility: Candidates must have passed or be appearing in the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects from a recognized Board or University.
      1. Air Force Wing: 120 Posts

        • Eligibility: Candidates must have passed or be appearing in the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects from a recognized Board or University.
      2. Naval Academy (10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme): 24 Posts

UPSC NDA II Examination 2026 : Mode Of Selection
  • Written Test: Candidates will first appear for a written examination comprising two papers: Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT).
  • SSB Interview: Shortlisted candidates from the written test will undergo a five-day Services Selection Board (SSB) Interview, which includes psychological tests, group testing officer tasks, and personal interviews.
  • Medical Examination: Candidates recommended by the SSB will undergo a medical examination to ensure they meet the physical standards for entry into the Armed Forces.
