Age Limit & Eligibility Criteria

  • Age Limit: There is No Age Limit for candidates applying for the Rajasthan SET 2026. This allows eligible candidates of all ages to pursue eligibility for Assistant Professor positions.
  • Age Relaxation: Age relaxation will be provided for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PwD) as per the rules and regulations of the Rajasthan government and UGC norms. Candidates are advised to refer to the official notification for specific details on age relaxation.
  • Educational Qualification:
    • Candidates must hold a Post Graduate (PG) degree with at least 55% aggregate marks (without rounding off) or an equivalent grade from a University recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
    • A relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) is applicable for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Disability (PwD), Other Backward Classes (OBC) (Non-Creamy Layer), and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories.
    • Candidates who are currently appearing in the final year of their Master’s degree or equivalent examination, or whose result is still awaited, are also eligible to apply provisionally. However, their eligibility for Assistant Professor will be confirmed only upon passing their Master’s degree with the required percentage within two years from the date of the SET result.
    • Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination was completed by September 19, 1991 (irrespective of the date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET.

Selection Process

  • The selection process for Rajasthan SET 2026 primarily involves performance in the written examination, followed by document verification.
  • Written Examination (Paper-I & Paper-II):
    • Paper-I: General Paper on Teaching & Research Aptitude (Common for all subjects). This paper consists of 50 objective type questions, each carrying 2 marks, for a total of 100 marks. The duration will be 1 hour. It evaluates the candidate’s reasoning ability, comprehension, general awareness, and aptitude for teaching and research.
    • Paper-II: Subject-Specific Paper (Based on the candidate’s chosen Post Graduate subject). This paper comprises 100 objective type questions, each carrying 2 marks, for a total of 200 marks. The duration will be 2 hours. Candidates must select a subject from the approved SET list that aligns with their Master’s degree.
    • No Negative Marking: There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers in either paper.
    • Merit List: Candidates must appear in both papers. A consolidated merit list will be prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained in both Paper-I and Paper-II. The top 6% of the appearing candidates who qualify both papers will be declared SET qualified.

Rajasthan State Eligibility Test (SET) 2026 : Eligibility Criteria Details
  • Master’s Degree Requirement: Candidates must have completed a Master’s degree (or equivalent qualification) from a UGC-recognized university or institution.
  • Minimum Marks: A minimum of 55% aggregate marks (without rounding off) is required at the Master’s degree level for General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates.
  • Relaxation for Reserved Categories: For candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), PwD, and EWS categories, the minimum aggregate marks required at the Master’s degree level is 50%.
  • Appearing Candidates: Candidates who are currently in the final year of their Master’s degree or equivalent examination, or whose final result is awaited, are provisionally eligible to apply. However, they must obtain their Master’s degree with the required percentage within two years from the date of the SET result.
  • Ph.D. Holders: Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s examination was completed by 19 September 1991, regardless of result declaration date, are eligible for a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET.
  • Subject Choice: Candidates should appear in the SET in the subject of their Post Graduation. If their PG subject is not in the SET list, they can appear in a related subject.
