SSC CGL Recruitment 2025 : Mode Of Selection

  • The selection process for the SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2025 is multi-faceted, designed to assess candidates’ aptitude and skills across various domains. The stages are as follows:
  • Tier-I Exam (Computer Based Examination): This is the initial screening stage, consisting of objective-type questions covering General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. Marks from this tier are used for shortlisting candidates for Tier-II.
  • Tier-II Exam (Computer Based Examination): This is a more comprehensive examination consisting of multiple papers. Paper-I (compulsory for all posts) includes modules on Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning & General Intelligence, English Language & Comprehension, General Awareness, and Computer Knowledge Test. Paper-II is for Junior Statistical Officer (Statistics) and Paper-III for Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer (General Studies-Finance & Economics). The final merit list is primarily based on the aggregate performance in Tier-II.
  • Document Verification (DV): Candidates shortlisted after the Tier-II examination are called for Document Verification. Here, candidates must present all their original educational certificates, caste certificates (if applicable), age proof, photo ID, and other relevant documents for scrutiny. Discrepancies can lead to disqualification.
  • Skill Test (Data Entry Speed Test – DEST): For certain posts (e.g., Tax Assistant, Upper Division Clerk), a Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) is conducted to evaluate typing speed and accuracy. This test is qualifying in nature, meaning candidates must achieve a minimum speed/accuracy to pass.
  • Medical Examination: A medical examination is conducted for specific posts to ensure that selected candidates meet the prescribed physical and medical standards required for the role. This is typically one of the final stages of the selection process.
