- 1. Computer Based Examination (CBE) : This is the first stage, conducted online by SSC. It comprises objective type, multiple-choice questions testing various subjects like General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, General Intelligence, English Language, and Computer Fundamentals. Candidates must qualify this stage to proceed.
- 2. Physical Endurance & Measurement Test (PE&MT) : This stage is qualifying in nature and assesses candidates’ physical standards (height, chest for males) and endurance (race, long jump, high jump). Only those who clear the CBE are called for PE&MT.
- 3. Typing Test on Computer (Qualifying) : This is a crucial skill test where candidates’ typing speed and accuracy in English (30 WPM) or Hindi (25 WPM) are evaluated. This test is conducted on a computer.
- 4. Computer (Formatting) Test (Qualifying) : This test assesses basic computer proficiency, including formatting documents, using MS Excel, etc., relevant to ministerial duties. This is usually part of the broader “Trade Test”.
