Age Limit & Eligibility Criteria (As on 01 July 2025)

  • Minimum Age : 21 Years
  • Maximum Age : 40 Years
  • Age relaxation will be provided as per UPPSC rules for different categories (SC/ST/OBC/PH etc.).
  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized University or equivalent qualification by the date of filling the application form.
  • For certain specific posts (e.g., Assistant Conservator of Forest, Range Forest Officer, Statistical Officer, etc.), additional specific educational qualifications or physical standards may be required. Candidates are advised to refer to the official notification for complete details on post-wise eligibility.
  • Only candidates who qualified the Preliminary Examination are eligible to appear for the Mains examination.

How to Download Mains Admit Card

  • Step 1 : Visit the official website of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) at uppsc.up.nic.in
  • Step 2 : On the homepage, navigate to the “Activity Dashboard” or “Download Admit Card” section.
  • Step 3 : Look for the link titled “Download Admit Card for Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services (Mains) Exam 2025” or similar. Click on it.
  • Step 4 : You will be redirected to the admit card download portal. Enter your Registration Number, Date of Birth, Gender, and the verification code (captcha) as displayed.
  • Step 5 : Click on the “Download Admit Card” or “Submit” button.
  • Step 6 : Your UPPSC PCS Mains Admit Card 2026 will be displayed on the screen. Verify all details carefully.
  • Step 7 : Download the admit card and take at least two to three printouts for future reference and for carrying to the examination center.

Exam Pattern (Mains)

  • The UPPSC PCS Mains Examination is a descriptive type examination.
  • It consists of eight papers in total.
  • General Hindi and Essay are compulsory papers.
  • There are four General Studies (GS) papers (GS-I, GS-II, GS-III, GS-IV) which are also compulsory.
  • Candidates also have to choose two optional subjects (each with two papers, Paper I & Paper II) from a list of subjects provided by the Commission.
  • The marks obtained in the Mains Examination and Interview are counted for the final merit list.

What to Carry to the Exam Center

  • Printed Admit Card: A clear printout of the UPPSC PCS Mains Admit Card 2026. Ensure all details are visible.
  • Original Photo Identity Proof: Any one of the following valid photo ID cards in original – Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Passport, Driving License.
  • Two Passport Size Photographs: Recent passport size photographs (preferably the ones uploaded during application) for pasting on the attendance sheet.
  • Black/Blue Ball Point Pen: For marking answers (if applicable) and signing attendance sheets.
  • Transparent Water Bottle: For personal use (optional).
  • Hand Sanitizer: Small transparent bottle (optional, as per current guidelines).
  • Mask: Face mask is mandatory as per prevailing health guidelines.

Mode Of Selection

  • Preliminary Examination (Pre) : This is the first stage, a screening test consisting of two objective-type papers (General Studies Paper-I and General Studies Paper-II). Marks obtained in the preliminary examination are not counted for the final selection but are used to qualify candidates for the Mains examination.
  • Main Examination (Mains) : Candidates who qualify the Preliminary Exam appear for the Mains. This is a written, descriptive-type examination comprising General Hindi, Essay, four General Studies papers, and two optional subject papers. Marks from the Mains exam are crucial for the final merit list.
  • Interview (Personality Test) : Candidates who clear the Mains Examination are called for an interview. The interview assesses the candidate’s general awareness, intelligence, personality, and suitability for the service.
  • Final Selection : The final merit list is prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained by the candidates in the Main (Written) Examination and the Interview.
