Selection Process

  • The selection for UPSC Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination 2025 involves two major stages:
  • Stage I: Written Examination (Computer Based Test – CBT): This stage is divided into two papers, each carrying 250 marks and a duration of 2 hours.
    • Paper-I covers General Medicine and Paediatrics.
    • Paper-II covers Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, and Preventive & Social Medicine.
    • The written examination assesses the candidate’s comprehensive knowledge in various medical disciplines.
    • Stage II: Personality Test / Interview: Candidates who qualify the written examination based on the cut-off marks are called for a Personality Test, which carries a maximum of 100 marks. This stage evaluates the candidate’s general knowledge, intellectual ability, ethical values, leadership qualities, and overall suitability for a medical officer’s role in government service.
