  • Preliminary Examination Pattern:
    • Type: Objective (Multiple Choice Questions)
    • Total Marks: 150
    • Duration: 2 hours
    • Subjects: General Studies (History, Geography, Polity, Economics, and Current Affairs).
    • Mode: Offline (OMR Sheet based)
    • Marking Scheme: Each correct answer awards 1 mark, while 1/3 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer (Negative Marking).
    • Nature: Qualifying only. Marks are not added to the final merit.
    • Preliminary Examination Syllabus:

BPSC 70th CCE : Mode Of Selection
  • Preliminary Examination: This is the first stage, designed to filter candidates for the Main Examination. It is objective (Multiple Choice Questions) and qualifying in nature. Marks obtained in the Prelims are not counted for the final merit list. Candidates must score above the cut-off to qualify for Mains.
  • Main Examination: This is a written, descriptive examination that is crucial for the final merit list. It consists of several papers, including General Hindi (qualifying), General Studies Papers (GS I, GS II), and one Optional Subject. Performance in the Mains exam significantly determines a candidate’s selection.
  • Document Verification (DV): Candidates who qualify the Mains Examination are provisionally shortlisted for Document Verification. All original educational qualifications, age proof, caste certificates, and other relevant documents are thoroughly verified to ensure authenticity and eligibility.
  • Interview (Personality Test): Candidates successfully clearing the Mains and DV stages are called for an interview. This stage assesses the candidate’s personality, general awareness, communication skills, leadership qualities, and overall suitability for public service.
