GATE 2027 Selection Process- Stage 1: GATE 2027 Examination (Computer Based Test – CBT)
- Candidates must qualify the GATE 2027 examination by securing marks above the cut-off declared by the organizing IIT. This score is valid for three years.
- A strong GATE score is crucial for shortlisting in subsequent stages.
- Stage 2: Application to Participating Institutes / PSUs
- After the GATE 2027 results are declared, qualified candidates need to apply separately to their desired IITs, NITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), or Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for M.Tech/Ph.D. admissions or recruitment.
- Each institution/PSU will have its own application portal, deadlines, and specific eligibility criteria.
- Stage 3: Further Selection Rounds (by Individual Institutions/PSUs)
- Shortlisting: Institutes/PSUs will shortlist candidates based on GATE scores, academic record, and category.
- Written Test / Interview: Many IITs/NITs conduct an interview for M.Tech/Ph.D. admissions. PSUs often conduct a Group Discussion (GD) followed by a Personal Interview (PI).
- Document Verification: Candidates provisionally selected will undergo a thorough document verification process where all original academic and personal documents are checked.
- Medical Examination: For PSU recruitments, a mandatory medical fitness test is typically conducted to ensure candidates meet the required health standards.
