Selection Process

• The selection process for ISRO Scientist/Engineer posts is rigorous and aims to identify the most suitable candidates. As per the notification, it involves multiple stages:
• 1. Initial Shortlisting: Candidates will be primarily shortlisted based on their valid GATE 2025 or GATE 2026 Score in the relevant engineering discipline. A minimum cutoff score will be decided by ISRO.
  • “Pre Exam” (as mentioned in source): This stage may refer to the initial screening based on GATE scores, or a preliminary screening test if conducted for specific categories or as a further filter before the main examination/interview.
• 2. Main Written Examination (“Mains Exam”): Shortlisted candidates may be required to appear for a comprehensive written test designed to assess their in-depth technical knowledge, aptitude, and problem-solving skills relevant to the engineering discipline. The exam pattern (subjects, marks, duration, negative marking) will be detailed in the official notification.
• 4. Interview: This is a critical stage where candidates’ technical proficiency, research aptitude, communication abilities, and overall suitability for the challenging roles at ISRO are assessed by a panel of experts. Strong foundational knowledge and the ability to articulate thoughts clearly are essential.
• 5. Document Verification (DV): Candidates who qualify all stages will undergo thorough verification of their original educational certificates, caste certificates (if applicable), age proof, and other relevant documents. Any discrepancy may lead to disqualification.
• 6. Medical Examination: A final medical fitness examination will be conducted as per ISRO’s prescribed standards to ensure candidates are physically and mentally fit for the demands of the service.
