Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has released the official notification for Class 6 admissions for the academic session 2027-28, to be conducted through the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) 2026. The online application process for NVS Class 6 Admission 2027-28 commenced on 07 July 2026, and eligible candidates can submit their forms until 31 July 2026. Candidates are advised to review the complete details and eligibility criteria before applying.
Age Limit : Candidates must be born between 01 May 2015 and 31 July 2017 (both dates inclusive).
Age Relaxation : Age relaxation will be provided for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories as per Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) regulations. Please refer to the official prospectus for detailed rules.
Educational Qualification : Candidates must be residents of the district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) is located and should have passed the 5th grade examination from a Government or Government-recognized school in that district for the academic session 2026-27. The candidate must apply for admission to the Navodaya school in the same district where they reside.
Important Note : A candidate appearing for the JNVST 2026 for admission to Class VI for the academic session 2027-28 must be studying in Class V for the entire academic session 2026-27. No candidate is permitted to appear in the selection test a second time.
Selection Process
Stage 1: Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST): Candidates will be selected based on their performance in the JNVST, a comprehensive entrance examination designed to assess their mental ability, arithmetic skills, and language proficiency.
Stage 2: Merit-Based Selection: A merit list will be prepared based on the scores obtained by candidates in the JNVST 2026. Admissions will be provisional and subject to verification of documents.
Stage 3: Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification. Original documents required include Birth Certificate, Residence Proof, Eligibility Certificate from Class 5 Head Master, Caste/Category Certificate (if applicable), Disability Certificate (if applicable), and Aadhaar Card.
Stage 4: Counselling: Post document verification, counselling sessions may be conducted to finalize admissions based on available seats and merit.
Stage 5: Final Admission: Successful candidates who clear all stages will be offered final admission to Class VI in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya of their respective district.
