Railway RRC CR Apprentice : Mode Of Selection
  • Stage 1: Merit List Preparation: The initial selection of candidates for the Apprentice training will be based on a merit list. This merit list will be meticulously prepared by taking the average of the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in their Class 10th (matriculation) examination (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) and the marks obtained in the ITI examination in the relevant trade. Candidates with higher combined academic and technical scores will be placed higher on the merit list, increasing their chances of selection.
  • Stage 2: Document Verification (DV): Candidates who are shortlisted based on their position in the merit list (typically, a number of candidates 1.5 times the total vacancies are called) will be invited for Document Verification. This stage is crucial for confirming the authenticity of the information provided in the online application. It is mandatory for candidates to present all original documents along with self-attested photocopies. Essential documents usually include:
    • Class 10th Mark Sheet and Certificate
    • ITI Mark Sheet and Certificate (for the relevant trade)
    • Proof of Date of Birth (e.g., Class 10th Certificate)
    • Caste Certificate (for SC/ST/OBC candidates, in the prescribed format by the Government of India)
    • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) Certificate (if applicable)
    • Aadhaar Card or any other valid Photo ID Proof
    • Recent Passport-size Photographs
    • Domicile Certificate (if specifically required by the notification)
    • Any other relevant certificates as specified in the official recruitment notification.

Tip for DV: Ensure all documents are original, valid, and that the details (name, date of birth, percentages) exactly match the information provided in your online application. Carry at least two sets of self-attested photocopies of all documents.

    • Stage 3: Medical Examination: Following successful Document Verification, the provisionally selected candidates will be required to undergo a comprehensive medical examination. This examination adheres to the prescribed medical standards set by Indian Railways for Apprentices. The primary objective is to ascertain that the candidate is medically fit and capable of undertaking the physical demands and training associated with the respective trade.
