Age Limit & Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum Age : 23 Years
  • Maximum Age : 32 Years
  • Age Calculation Date : Age will be calculated as on 30 April 2024. (Note: Candidates are advised to cross-verify the age calculation date in the official notification, Advt No. CRPD/SCO/2026-27/05, as it pertains to a 2026 recruitment, for any updated or specific guidelines.)
  • Age Relaxation : Age relaxation in the upper age limit for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PwBD) will be provided as per the rules and regulations of the Government of India and State Bank of India.
  • Educational Qualification : Candidates must possess a Graduation Degree in any discipline (e.g., B.A., B.Sc., B.Com, B.Tech, etc.) from a University recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or any other equivalent statutory body established by the Government of India.
  • Certification : A mandatory Certification in Forex from IIBF (Indian Institute of Banking & Finance) or another accredited institution is required. Preference will be given to candidates holding additional certifications such as CDCS (Certified Documentary Credit Specialist), Certificate in Trade Finance, or Certificate in International Banking, which will be considered as added advantage.
  • Experience : A minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience is essential. This experience must be specifically in Trade Finance processing, served in a supervisory or official role, within any Scheduled Commercial Bank. Experience gained prior to obtaining the required educational qualification will not be considered.

Selection Process

  • Stage 1: Shortlisting : Applications will be scrutinized by a screening committee based on essential qualifications, experience, and other eligibility criteria. Depending on the number of applications received and the criteria set, candidates will be shortlisted for the interview round. SBI reserves the right to adopt appropriate shortlisting methods, which may include criteria such as higher qualifications, more relevant experience, etc.
  • Stage 2: Interview : Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview. The interview will assess candidates’ domain knowledge in Trade Finance, leadership skills, communication abilities, general banking awareness, and overall suitability for the Specialist Cadre Officer position. The interview will carry a significant weightage, and candidates must perform well to secure a place in the final merit list.
  • Stage 3: Document Verification (DV) : Candidates who are provisionally selected after the interview will undergo a rigorous document verification process. It is mandatory for candidates to produce all original certificates and testimonials, including educational qualification certificates, experience letters, caste/category certificates (if applicable), proof of age, identity proof, and other relevant documents, for verification. Any discrepancy or failure to produce required documents will lead to disqualification.
  • Stage 4: Medical Examination : All candidates provisionally selected after the interview and document verification stages will be subjected to a medical examination as per the bank’s prescribed standards. This is to ensure that the candidates are medically fit for the demanding responsibilities of the role.
  • Stage 5: Final Merit List : A final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained by candidates in the Interview. Candidates will be selected in order of merit within each category, subject to fulfilling all eligibility conditions and successfully completing the document verification and medical examination.
