Voter ID Card Registration 2026 : Eligibility Criteria & Documents Required
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • Applicant must be an Indian citizen.
    • Must be aged 18 years or above as of the qualifying date (January 1st of the year of revision of electoral roll).
    • Must have a permanent address within the constituency where registration is sought.
    • Documents Required for Application:
      • Passport size color Photograph (recent).
      • Identity Proof: Any one of (Birth Certificate, Passport, Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Driving License, Class 10/12 marksheet if it contains date of birth).
      • Address Proof: Any one of (Passport, Aadhaar Card, Utility Bills like electricity/water/gas, Rent Agreement, Bank Passbook, Registered sale deed).
      1. Structure of a Voter ID Card:

        • A unique Serial number (EPIC Number) for identification.
        • Photograph of the cardholder.
        • A hologram containing the respective state/national symbol.
        • Name of the cardholder.
        • Father’s Name of the cardholder.
        • Gender of the cardholder.
        • Card holder’s Date of Birth.

Voter ID Registration : Step-by-Step Guide
  • How to Apply for Voter ID Card Online:
    • Step 1: Go to the official National Voters’ Services Portal (NVSP) website (nvsp.in).
    • Step 2: On the homepage, locate and click the ‘Sign-Up’ button at the top right corner.
    • Step 3: Provide your mobile number, email address, and the captcha code, then click ‘Continue’.
    • Step 4: Fill in your ‘First Name’, ‘Last Name’, set a ‘Password’, confirm it, and press ‘Request OTP’.
    • Step 5: Enter the OTP received on your mobile number and email, then click ‘Verify’.
    • Step 6: After verification, click on ‘Login’. Enter your mobile number, password, captcha code, and then click ‘Request OTP’.
    • Step 7: Input the OTP sent to your mobile device and click the ‘Verify & Login’ button.
    • Step 8: Once logged in, select the ‘Fill Form 6’ option under the ‘New registration for general electors’ section.
    • Step 9: Complete Form 6 by entering your personal information, details of relatives, contact information, Aadhaar number, date of birth, address, and a declaration. Upload all necessary documents in the designated sections, then click ‘Preview and Submit’.
    • Step 10: Review all the entered information carefully. If everything is correct, click on ‘Submit’.
    • How to Apply for Voter ID Card Offline:
      • Step 1: Visit the nearest State Election Office, Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), or Booth Level Officer (BLO) and request Form 6 for new voter registration.
      • Step 2: Fill in all the required details in Form 6 accurately and completely.
      • Step 3: Attach a recent passport-size color photograph and self-attested copies of all supporting documents (identity proof and address proof).
      • Step 4: Submit the completed Form 6 along with the photograph and supporting documents at the Election Office or to the BLO. Obtain an acknowledgement receipt for your application.
