Age Limit & Eligibility Criteria (As On 19 October 2026)- Minimum Age : 18 Years
- Maximum Age : 42 Years
- Age Relaxation: Age relaxation will be provided as per Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) rules and regulations for reserved categories. Candidates are advised to check the official notification for specific details on age relaxation.
- Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications from a recognized University or Institution:
- A Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, or Doctorate Degree in:
- Food Technology: Focuses on food processing, preservation, packaging, and quality control.
- Dairy Technology: Specializes in the processing, storage, and distribution of milk and dairy products.
- Biotechnology: Involves the use of biological systems and organisms to develop new products and technologies, including food safety applications.
- Oil Technology: Pertains to the extraction, refining, and processing of edible oils.
- Disciplines deemed to be covered under Agricultural Science: Including areas like Agronomy, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, etc., with relevance to food production and safety.
- Veterinary Sciences: Deals with animal health and welfare, crucial for food products of animal origin.
- Biochemistry: Study of chemical processes within and relating to living organisms, relevant for food composition and spoilage.
- Microbiology: Examination of microorganisms, essential for understanding foodborne pathogens and food spoilage.
- Chemistry: Fundamental knowledge of chemical properties and reactions in food science.
- Medicine: Candidates holding degrees in human medicine are also eligible.
- Candidates holding the following medical qualifications are also eligible:
- MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery)
- BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery)
- BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
- BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery)

Selection Process- The selection process for the HPSC Food Safety Officer (FSO) Recruitment 2026 will involve multiple stages designed to assess candidates’ knowledge, skills, and suitability for the role. The stages are as follows:
- Screening Test: This is likely the first stage, typically an objective-type examination to filter a large number of applicants. It may cover General Knowledge, Aptitude, Reasoning, and basic subject-related questions. Candidates must qualify this test to proceed.
- Subject Knowledge Test: A more comprehensive written examination focusing specifically on subjects relevant to Food Safety Officer duties, such as Food Technology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Laws, FSSAI regulations, and public health. This stage carries significant weightage.
- Interview / Viva-Voce: Candidates who clear the written tests will be called for an interview. This round assesses personality, communication skills, leadership qualities, problem-solving abilities, and depth of subject knowledge.
- Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates will undergo document verification. It is crucial to have all original documents ready, including:
- Matriculation (10th) Certificate and Marksheet
- Intermediate (12th) Certificate and Marksheet
- Bachelor’s/Master’s/Doctorate Degree Certificates and Marksheets (as per eligibility)
- Caste Certificate (if applicable, for SC/ST/BC-A/BC-B)
- Domicile Certificate of Haryana (if claiming reservation)
- Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Certificate (if applicable)
- Proof of Date of Birth
- Valid Photo Identity Proof (Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Passport, Driving License)
- Passport size photographs (recent)
- Printout of the online application form
- Any other relevant certificates mentioned in the official notification.
- Medical Examination: A mandatory medical fitness test to ensure candidates meet the prescribed health standards for government service. This typically includes checks for vision, hearing, general physical fitness, and absence of any major ailments.
