Age Limit & Eligibility Criteria (as on 08 September 2026)

  • Minimum Age : As per post-wise requirements, generally linked to completion of essential medical qualifications.
  • Maximum Age for Medical Officers (Assistant Commandant) : 30 Years
  • Maximum Age for Specialist Medical Officer (Deputy Commandant) : 40 Years
  • Maximum Age for Super Specialist Medical Officer (Second-in-Command) : 50 Years
  • Age Relaxation Extra as per ITBP CAPF Medical Officer Examination 2026 rules. Candidates are advised to refer to the official notification for detailed age relaxation norms applicable to various categories.

Selection Process

  • Document Verification: Candidates will first undergo thorough verification of all original documents related to educational qualifications, experience, age, caste, etc. Any discrepancy will lead to immediate disqualification.
  • Physical Standard Test (PST): Candidates will be assessed for prescribed physical standards including height, chest, and weight. Those failing to meet these standards will be rejected.
  • Interview / Personality Test: Shortlisted candidates will appear for an interview to assess their communication skills, general awareness, aptitude, and suitability for the medical officer role in CAPF.
  • Medical Examination: A comprehensive medical examination will be conducted to ensure candidates meet the stringent medical fitness standards required for service in the Central Armed Police Forces. This includes checks for vision, hearing, physical deformities, and other health parameters.

  • Medical Officers (Assistant Commandant)
    • No. Of Post: 115 Posts
    • Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must have an MBBS Degree from a university or institution recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or National Medical Commission (NMC).
    • Specialist Medical Officers (Deputy Commandant)
      • No. Of Post: 162 Posts
      • Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must have an MBBS Degree with a Post Graduate Degree/Diploma in the concerned specialty from a recognized university or institution (MCI/NMC recognized). Additionally, 1.5 Years of Experience in the relevant field is required after obtaining the PG qualification.
      1. Super Specialist Medical Officers (Second-in-Command)

        • No. Of Post: 05 Posts
        • Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must have an MBBS Degree, a Post Graduate Degree, and a DM (Doctorate of Medicine) Degree or M.Ch (Magister Chirurgiae) in the concerned super-specialty from a recognized university or institution (MCI/NMC recognized). Additionally, 03 Years of Experience in the relevant super-specialty is required after obtaining the DM/M.Ch qualification.
