UP Special TET Examination 2026 : Eligibility Criteria
TET Primary Teacher (Class 1-5): Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from a University or institution recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Additionally, a valid teacher training qualification such as a 2-year BTC (Basic Training Certificate), 4-year B.El.Ed (Bachelor of Elementary Education), or equivalent is mandatory. Candidates appearing in the final year of any of these teacher training programs are also eligible to apply. Generally, a minimum of 50% marks in graduation or the relevant training program is required, though specific relaxations may apply as per government rules.
TET Upper Primary Teacher (Class 6-8): Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks (or 45% in some cases for reserved categories as per government rules) from an NCTE-recognized institution. This must be coupled with a valid teacher training qualification like a B.Ed (Bachelor of Education), BTC, B.El.Ed, or an equivalent program. Final-year candidates of these courses are also eligible. Furthermore, candidates with specialized education qualifications (e.g., in Special Education) from Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI)-recognized institutes are also considered eligible. In certain scenarios, candidates with 50% marks in their Intermediate (10+2) examination along with a 4-year integrated teaching program (like BA B.Ed / BSc B.Ed) can also apply.
