UTET 2026 : Detailed Eligibility Criteria
  • For Class 1st to 5th (Primary Class – UTET Paper I):
    • Candidates must have passed Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks along with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
    • OR Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
    • OR Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Special Education.
    • OR Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, as per NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2002.
    • OR Graduation with at least 50% marks and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.). Such candidates, if appointed as a teacher in Class I to V, must compulsorily undergo a 6-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE within two years of such appointment.
    • For Class 6th to 8th (Elementary Class – UTET Paper II):
      • Candidates must have Graduation with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
      • OR Graduation with at least 50% marks and a 1-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) (including Special Education).
      • OR Graduation with at least 45% marks and a 1-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), as per NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
      • OR Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).
      • OR Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed. or B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed.
      • OR Graduation with at least 50% marks and a 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).
      1. Candidates appearing in the final year of any of the above-mentioned teacher education courses are also eligible to apply.

UTET 2026 : Exam Pattern & Syllabus Overview
  • Exam Mode: Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Marking Scheme: 1 mark for each correct answer. There is generally NO negative marking in UTET.
  • Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes (150 minutes) for each paper.
