- Exam Shift Timings: As specified on the admit card

- Reporting Time: Candidates must report to the exam center well in advance as per the timings mentioned on their admit card to complete necessary formalities.
- Gate Closing Time: Candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination hall after the gate closing time.

How to Download Admit Card- Step 1 : Open any internet browser on your mobile phone or computer.
- Step 2 : Visit the official website of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) at upsc.gov.in.
- Step 3 : On the homepage, navigate to the “Admit Card” or “Examination” section and look for the link related to “Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination 2026 Admit Card”.
- Step 4 : Click on the admit card download link to open the candidate login page.
- Step 5 : Enter your Registration ID or Roll Number and Date of Birth in the designated fields. Ensure all details are entered correctly.
- Step 6 : Submit the details to view your Mains Admit Card on the screen.
- Step 7 : Carefully check all details such as your name, roll number, exam date, time, and exam center address. In case of any discrepancy, contact UPSC immediately.
- Step 8 : Download the admit card PDF and take at least two to three printouts for exam day and future reference.

Exam Pattern for Mains Examination- The Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination 2026 comprises three papers for each stream (Geology, Geophysics, Chemistry, Hydrogeology). All papers are descriptive type.
- Each paper will be of 200 marks and 3 hours duration.
- Candidates must choose their optional subjects during the application process and will be examined based on the chosen discipline.
- The Mains exam evaluates a candidate’s in-depth knowledge, analytical ability, and clarity of expression in their respective specialized subjects.

What to Carry to Exam Centre- Printed Admit Card: A clear printout of the UPSC Geo Scientist Mains Admit Card 2026.
- Valid Photo Identity Proof: Original (and a photocopy) of any government-issued ID like Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving License.
- Passport Size Photograph: Two recent passport-size photographs (same as uploaded in the application form).
- Pen: A black or blue ballpoint pen.
- Water Bottle: A transparent water bottle (optional).
- Mask and Hand Sanitizer: As per prevailing health guidelines (if any).
- Prohibited Items: Electronic devices, mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators (unless specified), study material, or any other unauthorized items are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall.
